"Me-Time" for Oreo

Not often, but sometimes, Oreo slips off without anyone knowing where she is.

Most often, she's still buried deep within the sheets and blankets -- not quite ready to get up.
I understand those moments.

And sometimes, she's hiding because it's bath-time.
And I empathize with her.

Then there are those moments that are totally unexplainable.
And at those times my neurosis sets in....
"Is it my breath?
Did I not put on enough deodorant?
Is she mad at me ?
Does she want to leave home?
What is she thiiiiiiinkiiiiiiiing ??????????????"

But then, I realize, we all need a little "me-time".
And I totally get that.

Ride 'em Cowgirl!

Ok, at the Oktobertfest, they also had several events for the kids, uth, and adults, one of which was a mechanical bull!!  I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO RIDE A BULL!  No!  really!  I love rodeos -- a little known fact about me ... but I do.  I can tell you right now the top 5 bull riders : Kody Lostroh; Guilherme Marchi; JB Mauney; Silvano Alves; Austin Meier !  And the top bull is Little Lightening .....  so anyway, I tried and had a good time :-)

Oktoberfest at Fort Rucker

Fall is my most favorite season!  Where the leaves change colors, and the weather gets cooler... and there just seems to be more to do around town... like tons and tons of festivals.  I'm a festival fanatic!  The Fort Rucker base kicked off the season with a traditional German Oktoberfest.  Filled with German traditions like Bratwurst, Saurkraut, Beans, and Funnel Cakes.  The Germans invented the funnel cake, right?

We enjoyed the German Band.  Here they got out the "Alenhorn".  As they prepared to play them, the audience suddenly became quiet and then out of no where some guy in the crowd yelled "Riiiicoooooolaaaaaa" ---- I about wet my pants, that was too funny !

After that, the tuba player started a zumba line and we all followed him trying our best to do the polka but for most of us it was more of a jerky two-step.

Jordan joined in the line....

At some point in the evening, they led us in an old German toast -- we held up our cups and said
"Mögest du alle Tage deines Lebens leben! - Zum Wohl!
Oiy, Oiy, Oiy !!!
"May you live all the days of your life! - Cheers!"

At one point, mom had a little tear in her eye.  They were playing a song she remembered from her grand parents. (Her grandparents were from Germany.)  Nana got out on the dance floor and danced the polka, then some young girl grabbed mom and they danced the jig together --- laughing and carrying on -- fun!

The band finished their set with a wonderful finale of handbells -- the tempo kept getting faster and faster and we all thought he was about to fling one of those bells out into the tables -- but alas, he's a professional and kept a tight grip on his bells.

The World Map

Jordan came home from school, wiggin out a little bit about her homework.  Her Social Studies teacher had given the class a map where they had to fill in the names of the places.  And wouldn't you know, we didn't have internet access.  So, while Jordi was wiggin out, she had this epiphany "Mom!!  Where's that big world map we used to have?"

After some thought, I remembered I'd put it under the bed -- cause that's where world maps go ... right?

Ooooohhhh, Aaahhhhh...... the world map!
(Hey, look, Oreo's sittin on top of the world--lol)

Who says we need all this fancy technology to learn and live??  Seems to me the "old ways" work just fine ;-)

Now, where are the British Isles??  Anyone? Anyone?

Fence Friends

Every morning at 6:00 am, I take Oreo out for her "morning constitution".  And every morning at approximately 6:15 am, Oreo's "fence friend" waits for her to come play....

They chase each other up and down the fence....

And up and down the fence.......

And up and down.....
And up and down...

And so on and so on .....

Until tomorrow, Fence Friend -- goodbye until then.

Tables of Love !

Well, well, who are these two hotties? And where are they going all dressed up?

Nana and I went on a mother/daughter date to a "Tables of Love" missions banquet at church.

There were 25 tables with 6 women sitting at each of them. Each table had a hostess who decorated it with a theme.
Some were comtemporary.

Some had a seasonal theme.

Some were traditional.

This one was whimsical!

This one was nostalgic.

Mardi-Gras? ... let's party Christian style !

Marilyn Monroe and Betty Boop -- LOL ! They may have had different themes but they were all beautiful !

This is Bunny, she was our table hostess and as you can guess the theme was bunnies!

Bunny is a retired teacher and now sells Mary Kay. She gave each of us a lip gloss and nail kit -- how generous! She also made each of us a "boo-boo bunny". It was made out of a white washcloth with an opening in the center where you can put a couple of ice cubes inside and then put on your boo-boo if you get hurt --- how creative !!

Bunnies bunnies everywhere !

Then we got to eat the most incredible meal -- One of the ladies on our church made chicken cordon bleu, with asparagus and feta cheese salad, and a carrot soufle ---- all I can say is it was Heaven on a fork!

but the dessert... oh, the dessert -- it was like nothing else ! Some sort of peanut butter, chocolate mousse -- wonderfully delicious! Here's mom thanking God that she's not allergic to chocolate -- LOL!

After dinner we had a guest speaker from New York, Patty. She's an awesome teacher. She taught on the power of our words ! Each woman got a balloon, and each balloon had a piece of paper inside it with a word written on it.

So how did we get to this word on the inside of the balloon?

That's right! We had to sit on them and pop the !! LOL It was something to hear -- about 200 balloons popping at once! The lesson was that even though the word inside the balloon was written without you in mind, it still had an impact and evoked some kind of feeling. Some words evoked positive feelings "joyous, kind, loving" and some words evoked negative feelings " irritating, difficult, annoying" . So, when these words come at you what do you believe? You must believe the Word of God! And to do that, you must read the Word of God! Great teaching!

After the teaching, they handed out door prizes -- I won a Mary Kay gift bag !
Mom and I had a great time meeting new people !

But a special thanks to our friend Marilyn. She surprised Mom and me with two tickets to the event! Thanks Friend! We had a fantastic time --- it was needed :-)
