HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY !!!!

Jordan's birthday started off with a morning blueberry Kuchen. I know that may not mean much to you, but in our home, the blueberry Kuchen is sacred. Sacred I tell you !!


It's time to open the presents ! Oreo gave her a cute card !

And this year, all the presents fit neatly into envelopes... that were scattered all through the apartment...

out on the backporch...


in Nana's bathroom ...


underneath her bed...


and even in the freezer !!


Each envelope had some cash -- cold cash !!

NOW LET'S GO SPEND IT !!!!!!!

So, where would a 13 year old want to go first to spend her birthday money? The mall? The movies? How about getting her nails done? ..... Nope.......

She wanted to go to the wig store.... yep, you read that right.... the wig store. She wanted to see how she'd look with black hair.....

So, the first one was crazy short with purple hi-lights....

Hey, look! It's Pat Benatar !!

Next was the long black hair..... the store owner was at the cash register and yelled from accross the room " NO, NO, that's too sexy ..... NO NO !!" ... ( It takes a village !!!)

How about bleach blonde? ..... uhhhhh, no!

Short and curley -- maybe ?

Well, now we're on to something --- toooooo cute !!

After our fun trying on different haristyles, we walked next store to the pet shop....

where we fell in love with the baby turtles...

and where I may have to get Oreo's next outfit.

Next was the marathon shopping, I still wish I had worn different shoes. Payless Shoes, Dillards, Aeropostale, Hot Topix, Claire's, Bath & Body Works, Sweet and Sassy's........and icecream.

First Day of 7th Grade

Sorry bout the picture -- my lens fogged up -- it's 96 degrees out with high humidity -- can you tell? Anywho, Jordi started school today looking sharp! She came home full of hope and excitement and then took a 3 hour nap!! lol

I found my digital camera. It's been buried underneath some scrapbooking supplies for the last 6 months. I turned on the camera and reviewed the pictures.

New Prometheum Boards for Carver Magnet School!

Jordan attends Carver Magnet School and last night was their open-house. After we met her teachers, Senator Harri Anne Smith presented a $12,000 check to the school for the purchase of 4 new Prometheum Boards-- Awesome ! Teenager Toes....

Jordan starts 7th grade in two weeks.
(7th GRADE, FOLKS !!!! I'm wiggin out. But that's a whole other story.)


She'll also be an official teenager.
(I'M A MOTHER OF A TEENAGER!!! I'm wiggin out. But that's a whole other story.)



Anywho, she's already in the process of choosing which outfit, hairstyle, shoes, "delicates", and toenail polish to wear on the first day of school. ...... apparantly wanting to make a great first impression.

So, after trying blue polish with white stars, black polish with orange dots, pink polish with black stripes...... she's decided to paint every other toe green and every other toe pink with black dots.
( I didn't have the heart to point out that she can't wear open-toed shoes to school -- thereby noone will get to see them... but hey! at least we know she'll have cute teenager toes ! lol !

Jordan can pick up her own messes 'cause she has thumbs..... you don't have any thumbs which leaves ME to pick it all up. I don't appreciate it, Oreo.

"Well, maybe Jordan could pick it up?"

Hmmmm, well, that is a pretty good idea. But you're still in trouble little girl!

NASA Sponsored Science and Technology Day Camp

Troy University - located in Troy, AL - also has a campus where we live.

And for the past 2 weeks, Jordan has participated in a day camp at their Science and Technology Building. This day camp was sponsored by NASA to inspire the next generation in the field of Engineering.

On the first day, Jordan felt a little intimidated by all the big buildings and hallways and rooms. She was a little nervous but also very excited.

There were 40- 6th grade students who attended. Each one was given a 3 page test asking all sorts of questions about computers. The top 10 scores were separated from the rest and allowed to disassemble and reassemble a computer. Jordan was one of those 10 students.

Here we see the Professor teaching the various parts of a desk top computer.

By day 2, Jordan was a pro and felt right at home.

To everyone's surprise, the Professor handed each child a laptop computer and tool box.

She learned the various components such as LCD screen - Hard Drive - Optical Drive - RAM chips - DC power Board - Wireless/3G internet card - Speakers - Keyboard - Trackpad/Touchpad - Battery - Logic Board...... *blink* *blink* (are you as confused as I am ?)

On the last day of camp, they held a webinar that featured one of the NASA Engineers. The kids got to ask him questions and such.

Here's the kicker !!!!!! ........ they got to keep the computer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For free !!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Free LapTop !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God is Goooooood !!!
