I work for an Occupational Medicine / Primary Care / Urgent Care Clinic. We share the same parking lot with one of our local hospitals. Sometimes at lunch, I will walk laps around the parking lot where it happens to be right next to the Life Flight helicopter landing pad.
On this particular afternoon, I got to witness a Life Flight landing and "pick up".
Sorry about the photos. I had only my cell phone camera and as you can see, my cell phone camera is lacking. But the helicopter landed and a patient was loaded into it.
And then off it went to some other hospital, probably Montgomery, where I hope he/she is ok.
Our church has been honoring our city's Fire and Police Departments for the past several years with a banquet and a "check". At the end of the night, Pastor handed the Chief of Police and the Chief of Fire Dpt. a check for $14,500 (each). Amazing! The Chief of Police said that the money for his dpt would go toward equipping all police cars with a dash-cam. ( So, watch out! They have their "eye" on you !!)
The "Calm Before The Storm" ...... Here's a picture of our church's fellowship center before all of the city's Fire and Police Personel arrived. Cute, huh!
We served them rotisserie chicken, green beans, wild rice, rolls, and strawberry cake ! YUM !
Wow ! A Full House !! Everyone was appreciative and felt honored and special .... 'cause they are ! It hit me how special they really are when 3 minutes into eating, an entire table of 8 people got up and rushed out ------ when duty calls, you must run ! Apparantly there was a car accident they had to respond to.
While we were out running errands this weekend, Nana wanted to visit the museum. And like before, I just want to say that not everything is "art"!!
For instance......
Here is a painting of a black square...... yep, a black square......... *blink* *blink*.... a black square folks. Nana stood here for a few minutes trying to "get it". I thought it was hilarious. The shapes you see in the picture are reflections from the glass frame that the black square is in.
Jordan & I were coming back from droppin off several tons of stuff to Goodwill and passed by the Wiregrass Museum. We decided to stop and take a look.... and I'm glad we did.
Upon entering the building, over the corridor are hovering crows made out of worn-out tire tread and barbed-wire fence. Sort of cool and weird at the same time. I kept waiting for Alfred Hitchcock to say ".....and action" !!
Once we got past the birds, we entered the Gallery. The first room was, .... well, I just have to say that not all things thrown together is art...... I'm just sayin! Anyway, there were a few things we liked, such as the blown glass, and the wooden statue made entirely out of one piece of wood. Jordan's favorite was this bug-like-bird-like-key-like-bottle-like-man-like thingy (... again, I suppose that beauty is in the eye of the beholder?) My favorite was this half-painting, half-copper structure of a horse.
Downstairs was their "floating gallery" filled with different costumes and clothing. There was even an area where we could try on different clothes but Jordan wouldn't let me take a picture. Oh, well.
There was a kids area where they had this neat screen that you could move infront of and it would display your image in different shapes and colors. That's Jordan !
I'm glad we stopped by and went in to see what was up. Everyone go and support your local museums you'll be glad you did.
At first glance these pictures may look like I'm at a bonfire about to party it up! But the truth is these were taken at church ! Because the New Year is upon us, Pastor had a small sermonette about letting go of the past and surrendering to Christ on a daily basis. He asked us to write down what we want to let go of and give to God..... to completely trust God with whatever we're believing for.
Then the entire congregation (about 100 people on a Wed night) walked out back and held hands, prayed, sang songs and then threw our requests into the fire.
It was very "cathartic"... letting go of worries, letting go of hurts, just letting go and letting God handle it all. Trusting Him with it all and through it all.
The Old Testament teaches that the Israelites conducted burnt offerings daily. It symbolized complete surrender to God on a daily basis... the fire symbolized purification. Of course, Christ's life and death and resurrection fullfilled all that and we don't have to offer burnt offerings anymore..... but it was a powerful symbol of daily surrender and trust.
MERRY CHRISTMAS !!! HERE'S A PICTURE OF THE "CALM BEFORE THE STORM"!!
Jordan, as usual, played Santa and handed out all the presents. Primarily because she's the only one wide awake that had the energy, enthusiasm, and stamina to do it ;-)

Oh, Yes "Nails By Jordan" --- if this shirt wasn't made with her in mind than I don't know who?

What could it be?
