National Junior Honor Society

Jordan was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.

It's a pretty big deal.

It honors kids from Middle School through High School who have shown outstanding characteristics.

Such as Scholarship...

Leadership...

Service....

Character....

and Citizenship... 

and best Personality. 

(ok, I lied about the personality part.... but if there was an award for best personality, I think she'd get it ;-)

At the end of the ceremony, the 70 kids who were inducted said their pledge.... 

"I pledge myself to uphold the high purpose of the National Junior Honor Society to which I have been included.  I will be true to the principles for which it stands.  I will be loyal to my school and will maintain and encourage high standards of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship."

Band Concert

Jordan had another band concert but at a different High School.  While they were setting up, I took a picture.  From behind me, I heard a small, dainty, sweet voice say "cheeeeeese".  At first, I didn't pay any attention, thinking someone else was taking a picture.  But when I lifted up my camera again, I heard the same sweet voice say " CHEEEEESE!!!!"

So I turned around and this is what I saw....... a sweetie pie with a huge smile on her face.  So, I said "Hi Sweetie pie, would you like me to take a picture of you ?"  And she said, "CHEEEESE!"

Meanwhile, my own sweetie pie was goofin off with friends.

Mr. Batchelor, the band director, announced that next week the 7th -8th grade band will meet at the local highschool to compete with other middle school bands in State Competitions.  They played two selections that they will play at the competition.  Let's just say that I expect them to win !!  Great job !!  I thought I was listening to a High School band!

What a wonderful day!  When we tell our loved ones how much we love them ..... and eat lots of chocolate !!  I mean really, how good can it get ?

7th Grade Valentine's Day Dance

Happy Valentines's Day !!

Jordan's 7th grade class had a Valentine's Day dance.

She went with a bunch of friends, and danced the night away.

They all had a good time !

SMILE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The time has come... braces!!!  Jordan has an underbite. The ortho said it was one of the worst bites to have because it causes so much stress on the joints of the jaw, can cause arthritis and TMJ.  He also said that underbites were hereditary.  But I don't know of anyone in my family or her dad's that had an underbite.  Soooo, he did another x-ray to look at the developing jaw bones.  In a nutshell, he wants to go conservative -- braces only.  Her jaw won't stop growing until she's 18 and then we'll see how much (if any) it has grown.  If it's still growing, they'd consider surgery.  But he's 85% sure that since there's no family history, that when Jordan's baby teeth came in her top teeth came in directly on top of her bottom teeth.  And so her bottom jaw jutted out so that it would be more comfortable.  Sooooo, here we go !!!!  LOL !!  Jordan's excited ! But since she doesn't have insurance it looks like getting a new car is getting farther and farther down the road ... but I spose sacrifice is part of being a good parent :-)

Fence Friend... part 2

If you remember, I posted that Oreo had a Fence Friend.

Well, not to be outdone, Jordan does too.....

They go to school together.

They ride the bus together.

They're the same age.

They're both smart.

  

They both really like to socialize.

And apparantly they both could care less if there's a fence in the way.

Oreo's Favorite Chirstmas Present

You'd thought we got her the moon !!!!

She played with her new ball for at least an hour -- pushing it with her nose and shoulders and chasing it all around the yard...until....

she popped it.  Oh, well, at least she had fun :-)

Welcome to 2011 - where God is still Sovereign and Awesome :-)

After a little searching on the web, I found a quaint spot in Wicksburg, AL

that offered a New Year's Celebration for practically free.....

As the story goes, the owners retired and bought 55 acres of land where they wanted to build their dream home.....

But as the building went on, they each felt that they should use the land and their retirement funds to benefit the community around them....

So, they stopped building their dream home and created a Holiday Spectacular instead - complete with over 14 million lights...

and fire pits to roast hot dogs, chestnuts, and...

to burn marshmallows...

Also complete with hay rides for tours around the park --- here we see one of the reindeer relaxing from his long journey just the week before ;-)

and look! elves !

what's this ?  why its Santa's home --  well, actually its his summer home --  who knew it was in Wicksburg,AL  Cool !!

This year it was Nana who woke everyone up at 6:00 am to open presents.

Jordan didn't mind it !

I didn't either !!

And of course Nana was ready ....

but Oreo was still a little sleepy and disoriented ....

( why are we up so early on a Saturday !!!!)
